Part-time Learning Support Assistant

We are currently looking for a Part-time Learning Support Assistant for a special educational needs school in Telford which is due to begin February 2023 and will continue on a long-term basis. You must be able to commit to three days a week, 8:30 to 15:30.

This school caters for children from the age of five to eighteen with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate will have experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs.

This school’s aim is to reduce the numbers of pupils who are permanently excluded from school by offering mainstream schools an alternative provision as an assessment and intervention. Offering a range of interventions so pupils can be supported, either within their mainstream school or at one of there provisions.

The successful candidate must be passionate, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs. You will need to be able to quickly build trusting relationships with the students to help them manage any possible learning challenges.

The role:

  • You must be confident with your behaviour management, keeping disruption to a minimum and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your impressively calm, rational approach
  • You will be working with the students individually and in small groups, so it is important that you are able to engage with a variety of learning difficulties
  • You must be a caring and supportive individual who is passionate in providing the students with the best possible outcomes in life
