Part-time Teaching Assistant

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Part-time Teaching Assistant in a unique special educational needs school located in Nuneaton. This position is due to start February 2023 and will continue on a long-term basis. You will be required to work four days a week (which can be discussed at interview) 8:30 to 15:30.

This school caters for students aged 11- 19 with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the successful candidate will have previous experience of working in SEND and have good knowledge of behaviour management strategies.

All classes are divided based on the child’s learning needs, therefore receive the apocopate teaching approach. You may be required to work across all classes, so you must be able to adapt to each individual child’s needs. The school ensures that each class does not exceed nine students and maintain a high level of staff.

The role will be working within classes with no more than nine pupils and be heavily focused on teaching the pupils life skills to encourage them to be as independent as possible. You will be passionate towards every pupil to empower them to achieve and reach their full potential.

The role:

  • You must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or experience in a care environment
  • You will be working alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work, and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
  • You will be working with the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
