About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to two Year 3 pupils who are working below age-related expectations. Both children are described as friendly and engaging and are not known to display challenging or aggressive behaviours. They require additional support to access learning, remain engaged during lessons, and develop their confidence across the curriculum.

Working closely with the class teacher and wider support staff, you will play a key role in helping the pupils make progress and enjoy a positive school experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage engagement and participation during lessons.
  • Support pupils who are working below expected attainment levels.
  • Adapt activities and resources to help children access learning.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with the pupils.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and resilience.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress and achievement.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Have experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting.
  • Be patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic.
  • Have a passion for supporting pupils who require additional help with learning.
  • Be confident working both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
