Teaching Assistant

Zest Education are looking for a reliable and hard-working teaching assistant to work in a special educational needs school in Cannock. To be considered for this role you must be available to start in April 2023 until the end of the summer term.  This is a full-time position and there is potential of a permanent position if the right candidate is found.

The school caters for students from the age of eleven to eighteen with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). This is a challenging yet rewarding role, due to the needs of the learners you must be confident with managing challenging behaviours. There is outstanding support offered by the leadership team, and there is a great culture surrounding wellbeing and positive attitudes to learning.

This school believes that every pupil has the right to the appropriate and relevant educational provision that allows them to achieve their full potential. The main goal is to replace a downward spiral of educational failure with a cycle of achievement, building on and reinforcing self-esteem.

The successful teaching assistant will be working alongside the class teacher, supporting the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help the students engage in the classroom.

 

The role:

  • You must be resilient and confident with your behaviour management
  • Have SEND experience or experience within a care environment
  • Must be able to work as a team as well as off your own initiative
  • You must be a dedicated individual to providing children with a secure and supportive learning environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
