Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you fluent in BSL? Do you have a passion for learning? Then Zest Education needs you! We are proud to be exclusively working alongside a lovely school located in Birmingham supporting students who are hearing impaired and require support with their communication. This school has a large, dedicated and committed staff team who strive to promote independence, emotional well-being and a love for learning. Students attending this school use British Sign Language to communicate with their staff and peers along with implementing this into their core learning and additional activities.

This is a full-time teaching assistant role requiring you to work Monday to Friday 8:30am-15:30pm supporting alongside the teacher and other teaching assistants. You will be required to work on a 1:1 basis and within small groups of students and due to the age range of the students, you must be flexible across all ages. The ideal candidate must be fluent in British Sign Language and have previous experience supporting deaf learners.

The role:

–              We are looking for someone with previous special educational needs experience and someone fluent in BSL.

–              You will need to be confident with working with student who is hearing impaired.

–              Due to this school catering for a variety of ages, you will need to be adaptable

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
