Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

Zest Education is working with a brilliant special educational needs school in Derby who are looking for a passionate, high achieving Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with them on a full-time basis starting in April 2023. This is a special school for students aged 5-17 with Autism (ASC). The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with special educational needs or experience in a care setting.

During the school day students have access to a varied and stimulating curriculum. The Classes are grouped by Key Stage and students are taught in small groups of up to 6. The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants. You will be supporting the students individually and in small groups, supporting with all areas of the curriculum and promoting independence where possible.

The role:

  • You must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or experience in a similar setting
  • You will be required to work across different rooms and age groups, showing initiative and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • You must also have excellent communication skills as will be required to work closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
