Teaching Assistant

Zest Education are working with a busy primary special educational needs school located in Sutton Coldfield to recruit a Teaching Assistant. This position is due to start ASAP and will be for the full academic year, there is a strong likelihood that a permanent contract will be offered to the successful candidate.

This school caters for students from the age of 3-11 who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The students here have a range of needs, including autistic spectrum condition and learning difficulties. The successful candidate must have SEND experience or experience within a care environment.

All class sizes are small, with a good staff to pupil ratio ensuring every child receives the support they deserve.

The successful candidate must be dedicated and enthusiastic about supporting the students. Importantly, the school expects the very best from staff and pupils each day so dedication to the school and to the students is vital.

The role:

• You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with students in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school.
• Promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
• You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
