Learning Support Assistant

Zest Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a unique and inclusive special educational needs school located in Burton-on-Trent. This is a full-time position and is required for an immediate start.

This school caters for students from the age of 5-19 with autism, speech and language disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties.

Most students will have experience of failed settings and often will have been isolated from interaction with their peers and school community. A significant number of students have also had prolonged periods of time out of a school setting. The success of the school is everyone’s determination to engage and inspire students. The school are looking for an individual who is passionate, hardworking and will strive to maintain these values.

The role:

• You have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs
• You must be engaging, resilient and able to quickly build professional relationships
• This school focuses on positive behaviour management and follows the Team Teach policy, understanding or knowledge of this would be advantageous
• You will be working with children of a variety of ages, so it is important that you have a flexible approach
• You will be supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, supporting with all areas of the curriculum
• You will work alongside the class teacher and other teaching assistants, prepare learning resources and set up the classroom

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
