PE Curriculum Lead, Halesowen

Job Description

Are you an experienced leader of a PE department OR are an experience PE teacher looking for the next step up in your career? Zest Education are working closely with a secondary school in Halesowen who are looking to appoint a PE curriculum lead starting from September 2023. This is a full-time permanent role.

You will be responsible for helping to build, develop and implement the PE curriculum and work with other PE staff to provide the best possible education for students. Knowledge of the various curriculums such as BTEC, GCSE’s and A Levels is essential.

The school have a large and talented PE Faculty and offer an innovative curriculum and excellent facilities, including a Sports Hall and a state of the art Fitness Suite.

 

Responsibilities:

As the PE curriculum lead, you will lead a talented team of educators, shaping the physical education curriculum and ensuring exceptional teaching standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visionary leadership for the PE department, inspiring colleagues and students alike.
  • Developing and implementing a dynamic and engaging PE curriculum that fosters students’ physical skills, promotes health and wellness, and encourages participation in a range of sports.
  • Mentoring and supporting PE staff, fostering their professional growth and creating a collaborative team environment.
  • Overseeing the organization and management of sporting events, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborating with other heads of departments and school leadership to ensure the smooth integration of PE into the broader educational program.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A PGCE or equivalent UK teaching qualification that has awarded them QTS or QTLS
  • A great team ethos and want to be part of a strong team environment
  • A strong passion for PE and to be able to teach KS3-KS4
  • The ability to plan, mark and deliver high quality lessons
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
