Zest Education are proud to be recruiting a part-time Teaching Assistant role for a wonderful Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Burton-on-Trent starting in September 2023. This is a wonderful opportunity for somebody with experience working with children or young adults with complex needs in an education or care setting.

This school is an inclusive SEND school catering for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated challenging behaviour. All students (ages ranging from 4-18) have significant gaps in their prior learning due to their complex needs and have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). The curriculum aims to create active members of the community through a life-skill based curriculum as well as a range of therapies.

The Candidate:

• Experience of working with children in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of how children learn and an interest in developing the whole child.
• A desire to learn and a passion for working with children and young people with additional needs.
• A patient, caring, compassionate and child-centred approach.
• Excellent observation skills and the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our children and young people to reimagine their potential.
• Emotional intelligence and resilience with the ability to react calmly in challenging situations.

The rate of pay for this role would be between £75 -£85 per day depending on experience and references.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
