1:1 Learning Support Assistant

A caring and compassionate Learning Support Assistant is needed to work on a 1:1 basis with a lovely six-year old child with Autism (ASC). The school in Stoke-on-Trent  is hoping for someone to start from the new academic year.

You will be required to support the child on a 1:1 basis, supporting with their social and academic skills. You will be helping them to build confidence and overcome barriers to learning.

This is a primary special educational needs (SEND) school which caters for children from the age of 5-11 with Autism (ASC).

The successful candidate will need to be an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who can input and maintain high standards continuously. You will understand the importance of not just the education provided, but ensuring life skills are learnt from an early age. You will be pro-active, engaging and strong team player.

 

The role:

  • You will need to demonstrate good behaviour management techniques to ensure they are engaged throughout the school day
  • Must work well in a team to ensure good quality of education for the children
  • Must have a patient and a caring attitude whilst working with children
  • To be considered for this role you must have experience supporting children or adults with SEND
  • Although this role is to work on a 1:1 basis – You may be required on some occasion to work in small groups with the children

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
