Teaching Assistant – Sheldon

We are currently recruiting for a wonderful school near the Sheldon area who are looking for a full time teaching assistant to start in September 2023. This school focuses on Social Emotion Mental Health (SEMH) needs as well as Autism other moderate learning difficulties (MLD).

As SEN Teaching Assistant you will be joining a strong and supportive Student Support Department contributing to creating the conditions for all students to experience success. You will be required to work closely supporting students and will need to have good rapport and an understanding of each individual’s needs.

The ideal candidate would be an effective role model that sets high expectations and motivates the pupils to achieve. Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with SEMH may be an advantage. Your work will be divided between working with students in small groups in the department and in the wider school supporting students in their lessons in order that they are able to access the learning.

The role:

  • To work under the guidance of teachers in the planning and implementation of work programmes with individuals or groups of pupils with special educational needs.
  • To provide general support to the inclusion team and class teachers in the support of pupils with special educational needs inside and outside of the classroom.
  • To assist the teachers and inclusion team in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.
  • To promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn, develop and be successful.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
