1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a full‑time 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil at a welcoming mainstream primary school in Tamworth. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and helping them succeed in a nurturing, structured environment.

The role begins in September 2026 and is ideal for a patient, resilient and dedicated individual who enjoys making a meaningful difference in a child’s school experience.

About the Role

You will work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 3 child who requires additional support with SEMH needs. Your role will involve helping the pupil regulate emotions, engage with learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships. You may also support small groups when appropriate.

This position is perfect for someone who is calm, consistent and able to build trust with children who need extra encouragement and stability.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Term‑time only
  • Start date: September 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with SEMH needs
  • Helping the child engage positively in lessons and daily routines
  • Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive behaviour
  • Assisting with small‑group work when required
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
  • Creating a safe, supportive and consistent learning environment
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with the pupil
