1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 4)

Job Description

Zest Education are seeking a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Sutton Coldfield. This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a Year 4 pupil, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, parents and external agencies to ensure the pupil receives the highest standard of support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil within the classroom and around the school.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in learning activities.
  • Implement strategies and interventions recommended by the SENDCo and external professionals.
  • Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Support the pupil during breaktimes, educational visits and school activities where required.
  • Contribute to pupil reviews and maintain accurate records of progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents to ensure consistent support.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in a school setting.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with additional needs, including SEND.
  • Is patient, nurturing and committed to helping children succeed.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Is flexible, resilient and able to adapt to the needs of the child.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or is willing to undertake training.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
