Job Description

We’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing, individualised learning environment. You’ll play a vital role in helping students develop life skills, emotional resilience, and academic confidence—enabling every child to learn, grow, and thrive.

About the Role

  • Provide daily one‑to‑one or small‑group support for students with SEMH needs as outlined in their EHCPs

  • Assist in delivering personalised learning, adapting the curriculum to suit individual strengths, interests, and emotional needs

  • Implement targeted academic and pastoral interventions using a trauma‑informed, nurture‑based approach

  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, communication, resilience, and independence

  • Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to co‑create learning plans and track progress

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and motivation

  • Contribute to a high staff‑to‑student ratio environment to ensure close, responsive support

  • Liaise with external professionals when needed to support holistic student development

About the School

  • A small, specialist secondary school for students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs and EHCPs, located in Camden

  • Follows a trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approach to education

  • Offers a flexible, creative curriculum combining core subjects with life skills and therapeutic support

  • Maintains small classes and a high staff‑to‑student ratio to ensure individualised attention

  • Strong focus on oracy, literacy, numeracy, digital awareness, and real-world readiness

  • Prioritises positive relationships, wellbeing, and emotional safety as the foundation for learning

  • Supported by a wider federation of inclusive schools, promoting collaboration and innovation across settings

  • Committed to fostering independence, resilience, and personal growth in every young person
