After School Club Manager

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting an After School Club Manager to join a friendly and well‑established primary school in Burton. This role starts as soon as possible and will run until the end of July, with the potential to continue for up to a year for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced childcare professional — or a qualified teacher seeking alternative hours — who enjoys leading a team and creating a safe, engaging environment for children.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for managing the daily running of the school’s wraparound care provision, ensuring children are safe, supported and engaged in fun, age‑appropriate activities. You’ll lead a team of six staff and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the club.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 9:00am (Breakfast Club)
  • 3:15pm – 6:00pm (After School Club)
  • Part‑time, term‑time only
  • Immediate start

Ideal for someone seeking consistent split‑shift hours.

Salary

  • £14.50 – £20.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

Requirements

  • Level 3 NVQ in Early Years / Childcare or Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience managing or supervising a team
  • Confident acting as Safeguarding Lead
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to create a safe, fun and inclusive environment
  • A positive, proactive and reliable approach

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of six staff
  • Oversee daily operations of breakfast and after‑school club
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and school staff
  • Support planning and delivery of engaging activities
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming and well‑organised environment

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
