Caretaker

Zest Education is recruiting a reliable and proactive Caretaker to support a welcoming school in Turves Green. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑presented school environment and enjoys a hands‑on, varied workload.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks around the school
• Ensure the site is safe, secure, and well‑maintained at all times
• Open and lock the school premises, including setting alarms
• Conduct regular health & safety checks, including fire alarms and emergency exits
• Support with cleaning duties when required
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies
• Liaise with contractors and oversee on‑site work
• Maintain outdoor areas, including pathways, playgrounds, and car parks

👤 Ideal Candidate

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience (school setting desirable)
• Confident with basic DIY, repairs, and general maintenance
• Strong awareness of health & safety and safeguarding procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
