Classroom Support Assistant

A caring and specialist school in Nuneaton is looking for a dedicated Classroom Support Assistant to work closely with pupils who have profound and multiple learning disabilities. As a result, you’ll be supporting non‑verbal students with complex physical needs, helping them access learning in a safe, dignified and meaningful way. In addition, you’ll assist with communication systems, sensory‑based activities and physical support such as positioning, mobility routines and personal care. At the same time, your calm, patient approach will help create a nurturing environment where every student feels understood and valued. Ultimately, this role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, resilient and confident supporting pupils with high‑level needs.

Key Responsibilities of a Classroom Support Assistant 

• Supporting PMLD learners through 1:1 and small‑group work
• Assisting non‑verbal students using symbols, switches, eye‑gaze or other communication tools
• Providing physical support, including mobility routines, hoisting and personal care
• Engaging pupils in sensory‑based learning activities
• Encouraging emotional wellbeing, comfort and regulation
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and medical staff
• Helping maintain a safe, structured and highly supportive environment

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex physical disabilities
• Confidence working with non‑verbal communication methods
• A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Full‑time availability, Monday–Friday
