EYFS Teaching Assistant – Fulltime

Job Description

Zest are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated fulltime EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in the heart of Handsworth.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support children at the very beginning of their educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to provide high-quality support for all pupils, including children with additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Support teaching and learning within the EYFS classroom.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to develop communication, language, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, including autism and ADHD.
  • Support children with emotional regulation, social skills and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Help create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with observations and assessments of children’s learning and development.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Support pupils during play-based learning both indoors and outdoors.
  • Work effectively with teachers, SEND staff, parents and external professionals.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS setting.
  • Has knowledge or experience of supporting children with SEND, particularly autism and ADHD.
  • Demonstrates patience, understanding and a nurturing approach.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • Is flexible, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
