Full Time – SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you a caring and committed individual with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Zest education are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Erdington from September 2025.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. You’ll help to remove barriers to learning, encourage independence, and make a real difference to children’s everyday experiences at school.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, both in class and through targeted interventions

  • Assisting in the implementation of EHCP targets and behaviour plans

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support

  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a primary school setting

  • Is patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic about supporting all learners

  • Has strong communication skills and a team-focused approach

  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
