Job Description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant seeking a meaningful role supporting a child with additional needs? We’re working with a two-form entry mainstream primary school in Rednal, currently on an upward trajectory under new leadership that began in September 2024. They’re looking for a committed full-time 1:1 TA for a Year 2 child who is non-verbal. This position runs for the full academic year (September 2025–July 2026), with strong potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

You’ll be providing bespoke support, focusing on communication engagement, curriculum access, and emotional well-being. Working within a team of teachers, SENCO specialists, and external professionals, you’ll co-create and deliver personalised strategies such as visual aids, Makaton, and sensory breaks. A key part of your responsibilities will be assisting the child regulate emotions throughout the school day in a kind, respectful, and inclusive environment.

To excel in this role, you’ll need an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification and ideally have previous experience working with non-verbal children. You should be patient, empathetic, intuitive, and ready to adapt to the child’s evolving needs. An enhanced DBS check and two professional references are essential. Whether you’re confident in employing communication strategies or skilled in nurturing emotional regulation, your dedication will be vital.
