Full‑Time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 class at a primary school in the Burton area. This is a full‑time role that includes 1:1 support for a pupil with high behavioural needs.

The school is a busy, fast‑paced environment with a diverse community and a strong focus on behaviour support, consistency and positive relationships. Staff work closely together, and the leadership team is committed to improving outcomes for all pupils. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a challenging but rewarding setting.

About the Role

You will be supporting both the Year 5 class and providing targeted 1:1 support. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting a pupil with significant behavioural needs, using clear routines and de‑escalation strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team to follow behaviour plans
  • Helping maintain a calm, structured and safe learning environment
  • Supporting learning activities, small‑group work and individual tasks
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Contributing to behaviour management across the classroom

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting pupils with behavioural or SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow behaviour plans and work under direction
  • Confidence working in a challenging school environment
  • Relevant TA qualifications (Level 2/3 desirable)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
