Full-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a special educational needs school located in Hodge Hill, Birmingham.  This position is due to begin October 2022 and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year.

The school caters for children from the age of five to fourteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the students, the ideal candidate must have previous experience supporting individuals with SEND and is confident with their behaviour management.

The successful candidate will be working across a range of age groups, supporting on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You will be expected to build relationships with pupils and staff quickly but professionally. You will be working closely and supporting the class teacher, ensuring all children stay on task and have a good understanding of the lesson objectives.

The role:

  • You must have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or in a similar setting
  • You will need to be adaptable to work and support children of a variety of ages and learning difficulties
  • You are a patient individual and have a positive attitude towards the educational development of the students
