Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is delighted to be recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a fantastic primary school in Tamworth. This is a full-time opportunity at a warm, nurturing school with very well-behaved children and a genuinely supportive staff team.

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic, and flexible individual who will enjoy a varied and rewarding role, supporting pupils across the school day.

About the Role

This is a combined role involving:

  • Teaching Assistant support in Reception (mornings)

  • HLTA cover across the school (afternoons)

  • After School Club Leader duties

  • Opportunity to lead Forest School (one afternoon per week)

Key Details

  • Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

  • Location: Tamworth

  • Contract: Temporary – Permanent

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

  • Working Time: 37.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)

Daily Routine

  • 8:30am: Preparation time for HLTA responsibilities

  • 8:45am: Teaching Assistant support in Reception (a passion for Early Years is essential)

  • 12:00pm: Escort pupils to lunch and provide 30 minutes lunchtime support

  • 1:00pm: HLTA cover across classes (including teacher PPA time)

    • Opportunity to lead Forest School one afternoon per week

  • 3:25pm: End of school day

  • 3:30pm – 4:25pm: Lead After School Club

  • 4:30pm: End of working day

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
