KS2 Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly primary school in Solihull. You will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development, helping every child to feel valued and to achieve their best.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, builds positive relationships quickly and wants to make a real difference in a supportive school community.

Key responsibilities

  • Classroom support: Support the class teacher with the delivery of lessons, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Pupil progress: Help pupils to access the curriculum, adapt activities where appropriate and encourage independence and confidence.
  • Pastoral care: Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social skills, modelling kindness, respect and resilience.
  • Wider school life: Assist with preparation of resources, displays and learning environments, and contribute to school events and activities.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Experience: Has experience of working with children (school, nursery, youth work or similar).
  • Qualifications: Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) or is willing to work towards them.
  • Skills: Communicates clearly, listens well and can build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Approach: Is patient, flexible, positive and able to use their initiative while working as part of a team.
  • Values: Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and giving every child the chance to succeed.
