Job Description

Learning Support Assistant, Cannock.

Zest Education are working with a busy primary special educational needs school located in Cannock to recruit a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This position is due to begin September 2022 and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year.

This school caters for children from four to eleven with moderate learning difficulties social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment.

The school itself is a popular primary which encourages all children to develop into independent, respectful, and confident individuals. You will need to build and maintain successful relationships with the children, whilst treating them with respect and consideration. The role will involve working with the children individually and in small groups, so it is important that you have a flexible approach.

The role:

  • You have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or within the care sector
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times
  • You will need to be confident in your ability support individuals with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
