Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is working in close partnership with a special educational needs (SEND) school located in Cannock, who are looking to appoint a full-time Classroom Support Assistant. This position is due to start ASAP and will continue a long-term basis into the new academic year.

This role is ideal for those who genuinely have a passion for helping children, particularly with learning difficulties, and also a fantastic opportunity for those considering a career in Teaching to gain valuable first-hand experience.

This school caters for students from the age of 7-13 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience working with special educational needs or within a care environment.

This school aims to achieve high standards in teaching and learning through delivering differentiated curriculum in an interesting and stimulating way. You will be expected to work as part of the school team and contribute to plans to ensure the school meets its aims.

The role:

  • Must have be resilient and confident with managing challenging behaviours
  • Must have experience supporting individuals with SEND
  • You will be working with the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your calm approach

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
