📝Level 3 Teaching Assistant (1–1 SEND Support – Year 4)

Location: Druids Heath, South Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full time – 8.20am to 3.40pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

Zest Education are recruiting for a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a busy and supportive primary school in Druids Heath. The school serves a highly deprived area and supports a significant number of children with SEND, behavioural needs and SEMH. Staff are committed, caring and passionate about improving life chances for every pupil.

This full-time role is to work 1–1 with a Year 4 pupil who requires consistent, structured support for behavioural needs, ASD and SEMH.


📚About the Role

This rewarding role involves providing high-quality, individualised support to a child who needs help regulating behaviour, managing emotions and accessing learning throughout the school day. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1–1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ASD and SEMH
  • Using strategies to help the pupil remain calm, focused and engaged
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs
  • Working closely with the SENDCo, class teacher and behaviour team
  • Helping the pupil access learning safely within the classroom and during transitions
  • Building trust, stability and confidence through a consistent, nurturing approach

The school environment is busy and fast-paced, so a calm, patient and adaptable approach is essential.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with ASD, SEMH, or behavioural needs
  • A resilient, positive and empathetic manner
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with complex needs
  • Full-time availability during term time
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated team
