Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Tamworth. This is a full-time, ongoing role providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism.

This rewarding opportunity would suit a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning while developing their confidence, independence, and social skills.

About the Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a KS2 pupil with Autism throughout the school day. You will provide tailored support to help them access the curriculum, engage in classroom activities, and navigate daily routines successfully.

In addition, you will work alongside the class teacher and SENDCO to implement personalised strategies and interventions that meet the pupil’s individual needs. Your support will play a vital role in helping the child make progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

The school is looking for someone who can build a strong and trusting relationship with the pupil while maintaining a calm, patient, and consistent approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with Autism.
  • Support the pupil in accessing learning and participating in classroom activities.
  • Implement personalised learning and behaviour support strategies.
  • Encourage communication, independence, and positive social interactions.
  • Support emotional regulation and engagement throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEND staff, and parents where appropriate.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant staff.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Have experience supporting children with Autism and additional needs.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Have a good understanding of SEND support strategies.
  • Be confident working on a 1:1 basis.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
