Are you passionate about education and working with SEND children? Do you have recent school-based or care experience? A primary special educational needs school in Cannock have asked us to recruit for a part-time Classroom Support Assistant to start ASAP and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year. The school are looking for a individual who can commit to four days a week, 8:30 to 15:30.

This school caters for students from the age of four to fifteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The school is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals.

The school are looking for a motivated and passionate teaching assistant who will be able to provide excellent support to the class teacher daily. You will be supported to implement specific strategies to support the students’ communication and sensory needs and in the management of challenging behaviours that frequently present within this setting.

The role:

  • You will be working with the students 1:1 and in small groups, so it is important you are able to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • You are confident with managing challenging behaviour and can de-escalate any challenge you do face with a calm, rational approach
  • You have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or working in a care setting
