Part-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is working in close partnership with a special educational needs school located in Kenilworth. The school are looking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to start ASAP and will continue on a long-term basis until the end of the academic year.

This part-time position is available for an immediate start and requires the successful candidate to work four days a week (Monday-Thursday, 8:30-15:30).

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working with students aged 3-19 who have educational, social and communication, and emotional difficulties. The primary needs of our students are social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) and/or autism spectrum condition (ASC). Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that these students receive the support they need to succeed academically and emotionally.

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Experience in a similar environment, such as a support work or care setting, will also be highly regarded.

In this role, you will be assisting the teachers in managing students’ behaviour and providing additional support in the classroom. You will also be responsible for preparing teaching resources as requested by the teachers. It is crucial that you model good practice as a Teaching Assistant during lessons, providing a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Furthermore, the ability to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children is essential. You will be part of a collaborative team, working closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
