Part-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education are recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school located in Wolverhampton. This is a part-time role due to begin ASAP – You must be able to work 3 days a week (which can be discussed at interview) 8:30-15:30.

The school caters for students aged 6-18 with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and social development of our students. Working on an individual and group basis, you will assist students in their day-to-day activities, helping them overcome any barriers they may face and promoting their overall well-being.

The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or have experience within a care setting. You will have a genuine passion for working with students with Autism and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives.

In this role, you will be joining a dedicated team of educational and therapeutic staff who work in unison to provide the best possible outcomes for our learners. With small class sizes of a maximum of 8 students, you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with both students and colleagues, creating a supportive and collaborative working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with their educational and social development on an individual and group basis
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting their overall well-being
  • Collaborate with other educational and therapeutic staff to create a holistic approach to student support
  • Maintain accurate records and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students

 Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or experience within a care setting
  • Strong understanding of Autism and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
