A dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in the Cannock area is seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team full time. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible after the Easter school holidays.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who require patience, consistency, and understanding in order to thrive.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils aged 5–16 with SEMH needs, trauma histories, and behavioural challenges
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require stability and emotional support
  • Help deliver tailored interventions that promote regulation, engagement, and personal development
  • Assist teachers within the classroom and during off‑site activities
  • Use de‑escalation strategies and restorative approaches to support behaviour management
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or trauma
  • Remains calm, resilient, and consistent under pressure
  • Can build rapport quickly and act as a positive role model
  • Is adaptable, patient, and confident in fast‑paced environments
  • Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply for one)
