SEND Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you looking to make a real difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs? Zest Education is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Classroom Support Assistant on behalf of a school located South of the Leicester City Centre to support for the remainder of the academic year.

The school you will be working in caters for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs between the ages of 7yo-16yo, providing a safe learning environment that fully supports needs of its students. For the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role, the individual will be empathetic and passionate about working with children and understand how crucial their role is in seeing the children succeed.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role include:

  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive learning environment
  • Contributing to and supporting the students’ personal, social, and emotional development
  • Applying exceptional behaviour management when the students display challenging behaviour
  • Patience, flexibility, and adaptability to meet the needs of the students

 

Requirements of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role include:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with SEMH in an educational setting, or a similar environment is essential
  • Confidence to correctly defuse and deescalate situations when a student displays challenging behaviour
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and other classroom support assistants to ensure positive outcomes for students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
