Are you searching for a rewarding job opportunity within the special educational needs sector? Zest is currently recruiting for a a full-time SEND Classroom Support Assistant on behalf of a school in Birmingham to start immediately on a short-term basis until the end of the Summer term. This role may extend beyond the Summer term for the correct candidate.

This college caters for students with visual impairments, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD and SLD), and physical and other disabilities. The ideal SEND Classroom Support Assistant will have experience supporting individuals of a similar nature previously and be willing to go above and beyond to support student development.


Responsibilities of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role include:

  • Supporting students with a range of special educational needs on a 1:1, 1:2 and small group basis
  • Ensuring that relevant educational materials are available to the students
  • Implementing strategies that support students with ASD in managing their behaviour and enhancing social skills
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures, especially when working with students with physical disabilities

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
