Zest Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher to join a supportive school in Burton upon Trent. The school is seeking an enthusiastic practitioner who can deliver engaging lessons, build positive relationships, and provide the consistency that pupils with SEND require to thrive both academically and personally.

About the Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will teach and support pupils with a range of additional needs, adapting lessons to ensure every child can access learning and experience success. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENDCO, and external professionals to create an environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn.

Furthermore, you will play a key role in developing pupils’ confidence, independence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing while celebrating progress at every stage of their educational journey.

This role would suit an experienced SEND Teacher, a primary teacher with SEND experience, or a teacher looking to transition into a specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform future planning.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and support staff.
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Maintain high expectations while supporting children to achieve individual goals.

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • Be patient, resilient, and highly adaptable.
  • Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Be passionate about inclusive education.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for every child.
