Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting students in a special educational needs school? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant on behalf of a school in Birmingham to start as soon as possible for the remainder of the academic year, with the role potentially leading to permanent.

This school caters for students between the ages of 11yo-19yo with physical and sensory disabilities. The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will have personal care experience and experience working in a SEND School previously is highly desirable.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Teaching Assistant role:

  • Providing support during class activities, helping with assignments, and facilitating participation
  • Modifying or adapting instructional materials to meet the specific needs of students with physical disabilities or sensory impairments
  • Ensuring that students have access to and can effectively use assistive devices
  • Helping students with personal care needs

 

Requirements of the SEND Teaching Assistant role:

  • Experience working with individual with physical disabilities or sensory impairments is preferred
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the individual needs of students with varying disabilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are crucial for collaborating with students

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
