SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Burton area. This is a full‑time role, starting as soon as possible and running until the end of the academic year, with a strong possibility of continuing into the new academic year.

The school is a lively, fast‑paced environment with a diverse community and a strong focus on supporting pupils with additional needs. You’ll be joining a committed team who work hard to create a safe, structured and nurturing space for every child.

The Role

As a SEND TA, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Follow individual learning plans and behaviour strategies
  • Support emotional regulation, communication and engagement
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions
  • Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (ASD, SEMH, communication needs or similar)
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow support plans and adapt to pupil needs
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive
  • Relevant TA or SEND qualifications are desirable but not essential

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
