Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in the Burntwood area. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, and they are looking for someone who can make a real difference from day one.

This full‑time role begins as soon as possible and will run until the end of the academic year, with a strong possibility of continuing into the new academic year.

About the Role

You will play a key part in supporting pupils with a variety of SEND needs, including:

  • Speech and Language
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • Autism
  • Pupils with EHCPs

Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team, you’ll help deliver tailored support, build positive relationships, and contribute to a calm, structured learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

Successful applicants should have:

  • At least one year of experience supporting SEND pupils in a primary setting
  • Experience working in a busy, child‑centred environment
  • Strong understanding of SEN needs and how to support them
  • Level 2 qualification in childcare/playwork (or equivalent)
  • Paediatric First Aid (desirable)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • A compassionate understanding of the emotional, social and learning needs of SEND pupils
  • Motivation to inspire confidence and independence in children

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Be reliable, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
