SEND Teaching Assistant (Part-Time)

Job Description

📍 Location: Erdington, Birmingham
📅 Working Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 4 hours per day (20 hours per week)

About the Role:

Zest education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our warm and inclusive primary school in Erdington. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support individual pupils, helping them access the curriculum and thrive socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND.

  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).

  • Support classroom activities and promote a positive learning environment.

  • Help manage behaviour and encourage engagement.

  • Provide feedback to teachers and maintain accurate records.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs (desirable but not essential).

  • Is patient, nurturing, and adaptable.

  • Works well as part of a team.

  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

  • Holds relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 TA qualification) or is willing to train.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
