Teacher of History

Job Description

Zest Education are seeking a dedicated Teacher of History to join a secondary school in the Coventry area. As part of the schools most successful department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education and fostering an interest in History among their students. This is a full time role due to commence in October 2024, and will run for a minimum of one term.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and deliver engaging history lessons to students in accordance with the curriculum guidelines.
2. Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
3. Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for history.
4. Assess and provide constructive feedback on students’ work, including regular marking and setting appropriate targets for improvement.
5. Monitor and track students’ progress, keeping accurate records of attendance, assessments, and achievement.
6. Maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding students’ progress, behaviour, and any concerns.
7. Collaborate with other history teachers to share best practices, resources, and ensure consistency across the department.
8. Actively participate in departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide events as required.

Requirements:

1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
2. Experience teaching history at the secondary school level.
3. A strong knowledge of the history curriculum and the ability to effectively communicate complex historical concepts to students.
4. Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
5. Effective organisational and time management skills to plan, prepare, and mark work efficiently.
6. The ability to assess and provide constructive feedback on students’ work to support their progress and attainment.
7. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
8. A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up-to-date with the latest teaching techniques.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
