Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. This is a full-time Teaching Assistant role supporting a Year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis, beginning in September and continuing on an ongoing basis.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or an individual with relevant child support experience who is passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Year 5 pupil, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and make positive progress both academically and socially. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to ensure the pupil receives the support they need throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil.
  • Support learning activities within the classroom environment.
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt learning resources to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
  • Build a positive and supportive relationship with the pupil.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents where appropriate.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children in a primary school setting.
  • Be passionate about supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Have a proactive and positive approach to learning support.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
