Teaching Assistant

A specialist secondary SEND setting in Nuneaton is seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team full‑time from September. In this role, you support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, regulate emotions and build confidence throughout the school day. You play an active part in creating a calm, structured and predictable environment where students feel safe, understood and ready to engage.

You’ll work both inside and outside the classroom, adapting tasks, offering clear guidance and using consistent routines to help pupils stay focused and settled. You observe behaviour, recognise triggers and respond with patience and clarity. Alongside teachers and the wider SEND team, you contribute to personalised support plans and help maintain a positive, nurturing atmosphere that promotes progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant

• Supporting SEND learners across KS3 and KS4
• Helping pupils regulate, stay engaged and access learning
• Adapting activities and instructions to meet individual needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
• Maintaining a safe, structured and supportive environment

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs
• A calm, consistent and patient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Full‑time availability Monday–Friday from September
• Interest in SEND roles in Nuneaton
