Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A supportive mainstream primary school in the Coventry/Nuneaton area is now seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team part‑time from September. As you step into this role, you immediately become an important part of the classroom, offering consistent support to pupils with additional needs as they learn, grow and build confidence. Furthermore, you work closely with the class teacher each day, helping lessons run smoothly while contributing to a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Moreover, this position provides a range of meaningful responsibilities that make each day purposeful and rewarding. You deliver 1:1 and small‑group support, guiding pupils through adapted activities that strengthen their understanding and independence. Furthermore, you encourage positive behaviour, promote emotional regulation and help create a nurturing classroom culture where every child feels valued, supported and ready to succeed.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting SEND pupils through 1:1 and small‑group work
  • Assisting with daily routines and classroom organisation
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
  • Helping pupils access learning through adapted tasks and clear guidance
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and wider school staff

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience supporting children with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language)
  • A patient, proactive and enthusiastic approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting primary‑aged pupils
  • Part‑time availability Monday–Friday from September
  • Interest in SEND roles in Coventry or Nuneaton
