Teaching Assistant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a supportive Teaching Assistant to start immediately. This Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as their primary need, alongside a range of associated needs including anxiety, ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, attachment difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Many pupils have experienced difficulties within mainstream education or previous placement breakdowns and require a calm, structured, and highly supportive environment to help them thrive.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and associated learning challenges. 
• Help implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
• Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet a wide range of learning styles and needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety management, and positive social interaction.
• Build trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued, and engaged in education.
• Encourage independence, life skills, communication skills, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, families, and other professionals to provide consistent support and achieve positive outcomes for every pupil.
