Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is working closely with a school located in the Jewellery Quarter who are looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant to work with them on a full-time basis starting as soon as possible and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year. The school is located in the heart of the city centre, so is easily accessible by private or public transport.

The school itself caters for students from the age of 7 – 16 with Autism (ASC).  The successful candidate must have previous experience working with special educational needs or within a care environment.

All class sizes are small throughout this school with a maximum of 10 students with a high staff to student ratio. It is important to this school that every student always has outstanding support and receives a personalised learning experience. You will be required to work individually and in small groups across a range of age groups so you must have strong behaviour management and be able to quickly build professional relationships.

The role:

  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • You will need to be able to build trusting relationships with the students and will be supporting them with all areas of the curriculum
  • You will be working alongside the class teacher, preparing learning resources and maintaining the classroom

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
