Job Description

Zest is on the lookout for a friendly, outgoing teaching assistant to work at a sought-after special educational needs school in Burton-on-Trent. This is a full-time position due to start ASAP for the full academic year. There is potential for a permanent position if the right candidate is found.

We provide a high-quality education for students from the age of 5-18 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. All students have an Educational Health & Care Plan (EHCP). You must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs (SEND).

This is a well-resourced school with small classes (max 8) with students supported by a team of educational and therapeutic staff who work in unison to achieve the best outcome for the students.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be supporting the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You will be supporting the students to develop crucial life skills, meet their goals and aspirations through communication, independence and participation.

The role:

  • Must be patient and have the ability to provide consistent, patient, and encouraging support
  • Must be compassionate and have a deep understanding and empathy for the challenges faced
  • Must have a collaborative mindset to work alongside educators, therapists, and families
  • Flexibility to adapt teaching methods and approaches to suit individual needs

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
