We are currently looking for a teaching assistant to work in an outstanding special educational needs school located in Tamworth. This position is a due to start ASAP and will be ongoing until the end of the academic year, on a full-time basis.

This school caters for students from the age of five to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with special educational needs and must be confident in their behaviour management.

The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely with an experienced team. You will be supporting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons and supporting the students to identify, meet and exceed their educational targets. You will be working with the children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, so it is important that you have a flexible approach to meet each individual child’s needs.

  • You will need to be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with both staff and students
  • You will need to be passionate to build trusting relationships with the children to help them manage the learning challenges they may face.
