Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant, with experience working with individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – this could be with children or adults – to join our team immediately. The successful candidate will support pupils in accessing the curriculum, aid their personal development, and contribute to their overall well‑being and progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering learning activities, adapting materials and methods to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
• Work one‑to‑one or in small groups to support learning, behaviour, communication and social development.
• Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, helping them feel secure, respected and included.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and calm learning environment.
• Observe, record and report on pupils’ progress, sharing information with teachers and other staff to inform future planning.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals as required.

Person Specification / Required Skills & Experience

• Prior experience working with SEND learners (children or adults) is essential.
• Patience, empathy, flexibility and resilience.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills and reliability.
• A positive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with SEND.
