Teaching assistant – full time

Job Description

We are proud to be working with a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Kings Heath to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work full-time in their on-site Resource Base, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping children with special educational needs to flourish both socially and academically.

About the Role:

The Resource Base provides specialist support to pupils with diverse and complex needs. The successful candidate will work closely with a small group of children whose needs include:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Down’s Syndrome

  • ADHD

  • Global Developmental Delay

  • Physical Disabilities

The Teaching Assistant will support learning through structured activities, one-to-one support, and small group interventions, while also helping with personal care and mobility where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support in line with each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

  • Support the development of communication, social skills, and independence

  • Assist with classroom activities, sensory strategies, and behaviour support

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

  • Promote inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and consistent routines

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a recognised NVQ Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

  • Have experience working with children with a range of SEND

  • Be confident using strategies to support communication, sensory needs, and positive behaviour

  • Be calm, caring, and committed to making a positive impact

  • Be able to commit to the full academic year

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.
